Rónait Ni Chonghaile raises €900 for Galway Hospice through her first full marathon

Cheque Presentation (Copy)Well done to Rónait Ni Chonghaile who raised a fantastic €900 for Galway Hospice. Rónait raised these proceeds through her participation in her first ever full marathon, which she successfully completed.

Thank you to Rónait for choosing Galway Hospice to benefit from her participation in the Galway Bay Full Marathon – a distance of 26.2 miles, and congratulations on such a fantastic achievement.

Pictured is Rónait at her recent visit to Galway Hospice, presenting her proceeds raised to Orla Feeney of Galway Hospice.

This donation will help Galway Hospice to continue providing our fully-accredited specialist palliative care services to adults and children with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses throughout Galway City and County. Demand for our services, particularly for our homecare service, has continued to increase and we have a constant waiting list for this service. Last year, we looked after 730 patients at home, which was an increase of 5% over the previous year. This is due to the increase in non cancer patients being referred to the service where over 40% of the patients taken on by our homecare service now have a non cancer diagnosis.

There is no charge for the services provided by Galway Hospice – they are available free to the people of Galway City and County when they need them.

Without people like Rónait and the support we receive from the community, we could not provide these essential services. Thank you to Rónait and to everyone who supported her.
