23rd Annaghdown Cycle
The Annaghdown Cyclists held their 23rd Annual Cycle from Clonboo to Westport on the 24th of April in aid of Galway Hospice. The cycle included a stopover stay in Westport for the night and a return cycle to Clonboo the following day. "Record Breaker" Clíona Conneely of the Maggie C
Clíona Conneely from the fishing trawler, the "Maggie C", caught a huge wreckfish this week which is an Irish record breaker (18kgs & 96cm long). She has very kindly donated it to Galway Hospice. The fish sold for €160 and was bought by Stephane Griesbach from Gannet Fishmongers in Galway. The last Irish record was a measly 4.8kgs!
Rossaveal Fisheries Calendar
The local fishermen and women of Rossaveal Harbour produced a 2010 calendar that raised €3,220 for Galway Hospice. Pictured below are some of those involved in the production of the calendar. Cycle From Galway To Africa
A unique sponsored cycle from Galway to Africa is currently underway to raise much needed funds for Galway Hospice. The intrepid cyclists are en route to Morocco on the North West coast of Africa via France and Spain. After a hearty lunch at the Galway Hospice in Renmore on Wednesday 27th May before the start of their adventure, three of the four lads posed for a photograph! Bernie's Birthday Remembrance
Michelle Moran's mother, Bernie Moran, passed away in October of 2009, prior to her 50th birthday. Bernie had been cared for by Galway Hospice. To commemorate Bernie's 50th Birthday, Michelle held a Birthday Remembrance Party and donated the proceedings to Galway Hospice. A great night was had by all in The Abbey Inn, Abbeyknockmoy, where a staggering €29,100 was raised for Galway Hospice. Heavenly Voices For Hospice
The choir members of Abundant Life Christian Centre in Galway have been carol-singing on Shop Street for Galway Hospice every Christmas for the past six years. Christmas Cabaret Launch
This year's Gala Christmas Cabaret to be held in the Radisson Blu Hotel on 10th December 2009 will benefit three local charities - Croi, Irish Autism Action and Galway Hospice. This annual Cabaret is hugely popular with Galway audiences and promises to be a sell-out again this year. People in Need
Galway Hospice Foundation received grant funding of €30,000 towards the cost of the fleet of vehicles used to provide the Home Care ("hospice at home") service from People in Need. Galway Hospice was one of a number of Galway charities to benefit from People in Need funding in 2009.

Annual Kinvara Christmas Day Swim
Some of the brave participants bracing themselves for their annual dip in icy waters at Tracht Beach on Christmas morning! Collectively they raised €4,910 for Galway Hospice.

Maura Burke Memorial Fund.
A new hydraulic bed and Airflow mattress were recently donated to Galway Hospice to further enhance patient care. The equipment was purchased through the Maura Burke Memorial Fund. Sponsorship was raised by a group of 50 ladies who completed the Flora Women's Mini Marathon in Dublin on June 2nd this year on behalf of the Maura Burke Memorial Fund. Seamus Kelleher at the Crane Bar
The Crane Bar in Galway played host to a memorable Seamus Kelleher concert on 17th November. Guitar virtuoso Seamus, originally from Salthill, has lived in the States for the past 30 years where he plays with renowned Irish/American band Blackthorn. A donation of €665 was made jointly by Mick Crehan (Crane Bar) and Seamus Kelleher to Galway Hospice from this event.
